My notes

Opening “My notes”

In the menu, the “My notes” section, below the New Testament, opens three pages, one per type of note:

  • 🔥 Breath of the Holy Spirit: the verses the Holy Spirit has been speaking to you about;
  • ❓ Texts to study: the verses you need to dig deeper into;
  • 💬 Comments: your comments.

The three pages work the same way: a period of your choice, then the list of the notes set during that period. To create notes, see highlights, notes and comments.

Choosing a period

The “Period” list offers:

  • Today (the starting period), This week, Last week and This month;
  • Custom: two date fields, “Start” and “End”, that you fill in yourself.

Days are those of your device, both ends included, and weeks run from Monday to Sunday. The period applies to the creation date of the note: a comment edited today but written last month is not “from today”. If the period is invalid (an empty date, or a start after the end), the page says so instead of silently correcting it. Your choice is shared by the three pages; when the extension is reopened, it starts again from “Today”.

The list

Notes appear on cards, the most recent first, ten per page, with “Previous page” and “Next page” under the list. If there are none, the page says “No notes in this period”. Each card gives:

  • the reference (for example “John 3:16”);
  • the text of the verses. Beyond three verses, the first three are shown and a “Show all N verses” button unfolds the rest (“Show fewer” folds it again);
  • for a 💬, the whole text of the comment;
  • the creation date and, for a comment, the date of the last change (or “Never modified”).

At the top right of the card, three buttons:

  • Open (the extension’s icon): opens the note’s chapter, not the verse itself;
  • 📝 Edit (comments only): reopens the comment window;
  • ❌ Delete: after a confirmation that recalls the note’s reference and date. It is then deleted for good.

In which Bible?

The text and numbering are those of the chosen Bible in the top bar’s selector: changing it redraws the list. A note follows the verse from one Bible to another, so the same verse can be called “Psalms 34:3” in the Louis Segond and “Psalms 34:2” in the American Standard Version. The 2nd Bible is hidden on these pages.

If the chosen Bible does not have a note’s verse (the case of a few verses missing from some Bibles), the note stays in the list, without text, with the mention “No matching verse in this Bible” and a link to the nearest chapter: it can still be deleted. Choosing a Bible that has the verse shows its text.

Limits

  • No search within notes and no filter on several types at once;
  • highlights have no page: they are seen in the reading;
  • no export from these pages: it is in the Settings, under “Backup” (see backup and import).
