Installation
Where to install it
Install Scriptorium from the Chrome Web Store or from Firefox Add-ons, using the buttons on the extension page. This site offers no file to download: installation always goes through your browser’s store.
Supported browsers
The extension is designed for:
- Chrome, Edge and Opera: from Chromium version 102, through the Chrome Web Store;
- Firefox on desktop: from version 140, through Firefox Add-ons;
- Firefox for Android: from version 142, with the same package as on desktop.
The Compatibility page details the systems supported by each store.
When installing
Your browser will show a warning about browsing history. It comes from the
webNavigation permission, which is needed to detect that a page failed to load.
Scriptorium builds no history and transmits nothing: see the
privacy page.
First launch
Click the Scriptorium icon: the reading page opens in a new tab, with no intermediate window. No setup is needed to get started: the Bible that matches your browser’s language is chosen automatically (see Reading the Bible).
The interface is available in French, English and Spanish, depending on the browser’s language. For any other language, it is shown in French.
What next?
- Reading the Bible: choose your Bible, add a 2nd Bible, navigate.
- Notes and comments: mark, comment on and copy verses.
- Settings and offline page: appearance, formatting, and the invitation to read when the connection fails.
